ABOUT THE BOAT

M.V. Mangrove Jack II was built in March, 2008. It was designed to be comfortable, quiet and to maximise observation. Guests are encouraged to stand on the front deck to get “up close and personal” with wildlife.

The boat is covered and we have clear screens in the event of rain. The boat, being small and more personalised allows me to interact with guests. Therefore loud speakers are not required.

The comfortable seats face forward for best viewing. They are padded and have back rests.

As a small family business we have a great lifestyle with our own private boutique facility on the riverbank, in a Conservation Park.

My involvement in tourism started from humble beginnings as a trainee tour guide, learning the knack of how to spot wildlife – so 40,000 trips later I have an eagle eye for spotting wildlife!

I offer you a one hour cruise observing wildlife, with an empahasis on crocodile spotting.  Other aspects include tree-snakes, pythons and bird-life, natural history of the region and the mangrove eco-system.  Binoculars are provided.

My obsession with the river comes from my childhood and growing up with the aborigines on Mornington Island, in the Gulf of Carpenteria, where I learned a lot about wht I am presenting on my tour.
